This year we stayed local for the blossoms, and went to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Now that I write that, though, it wasn't exactly a local scene. They had a contest for people to dress up like their favorite anime character, so there were all sorts of nutty costumes and clearly people had made a real pilgrimage. There were lots of lolita girls and gamer characters, and then there were these furries:
Rosemary was way more interested in all the people than in the cherry blossoms, and only really gave me this smile because I pulled Mao the cat out of the bag right when I took the picture:
