The Goat and the Woman

They did story acting at Rosie's school yesterday, and - great excitement - the kids acted out Rosie's story! I haven't seen it in print but I hear it goes something like this:

"A goat walked into the room. The woman was surprised! The goat left the room. The woman was happy."

Rosie got to be actor/director. She played the goat and chose another girl, Amelia, to play the woman. Rosemary walked on all fours, and Amelia covered her mouth to show her great surprise. Big treat.

I am QB

And you can be too, if you come over! Not as in quarterback, but as in "C'you be Baby George's doctor?" "C'you be Floppy Bunny's teacher?" And my personal favorite, "C'you be the cashier?" In writing "C'you Be" looks slightly French--or maybe Cajun?--so you can just call me QB.

Yes, that's just a cute way to say Rosemary is doing a LOT of re-enacting/repetition of life events: doctor visits, dentist visits, grocery shopping, cooking, school, and playgroup.

Doctoring Baby George by giving him a bamboo-stick flu shot:
Chef Rosemary pondering what to put in her stew. Probably result: SillyBandz, necklaces, seashell, and wallet. Delicious.

Grandma Nancy!

This past weekend Granddad was out of town on one of his many work trips, so Grandma Nancy surprised us with a fantastic, whirlwind visit. That is, we knew ahead of time she was coming, but the trip wasn't long planned. Rosemary was beside herself excited to have Grandma stay at our house.

The weather was nice enough we could visit Pier 6 for the first time since fall.

Then to cope with the doldrums after Grandma Nancy left--and because one pier just isn't enough--we ended the weekend with a quick trip further into Red Hook to Valentino Pier, a park we hadn't been to before. There are great views of the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan, and overall it's just a nice reminder of how watery our city is.

A giant Norwegian Cruise Line ship moseyed on past us, dwarfing Lady Liberty:
