July Pix

Riding Emma the Horse in the Berkshires.
Preschooler attitude in the barn:
Either fishing or having a tea party with Dash. Not sure which:

Cozy gab with Dash:

Back in Brooklyn, an ice cream after delicious tacos and quesadillas at Rockaway Taco:

Excited to harvest the cucumbers she planted in April in Bethesda. Thanks Grandma Nancy for nurturing them!

Reading Amelia Bedelia with Granddad:

Another cozy chat. I heard giggling and I walked in and saw this sweet sight:

Rosemary Says

A few recent quotes:

"I'm not sick of laughing, just sick of body." (Said one day when she was a little feverish but not TOO sick to play."

"Hi! I'm John Denver. What's your name?" (Said first thing in the morning when she woke up.)

R: Mommy, how did they make the world?
Me: "Um...the world?"
R: Yes. The planets.
I need to get better at figuring out toddler-appropriate answers to these questions. This was followed a few days after by, "Mom, How do people make people?" and then "How do dentists sleep at night?"

She's slowly, slowly getting to be more independent doing stuff. She wavers between wanting to do something all her own and just not wanting to be bothered. Earlier this summer she spent long sessions sitting and patiently figuring out how to buckle her sandals. Then, almost as soon as she got reasonably good at it (or at least knew she could if she worked at it), she started refusing to do it at all. Contrarian.
This week she is into: Jumping, asking people in stores about things we are looking for, doctors, dentists, pretend swim lessons, and Amelia Bedelia.
